Warmbat™ History- “The Original Australian”
A Tradition of Quality
For more than 100 years, the sheepskin boot has been as much a part of the Australian heritage as the cowboy boot is an icon of the American West. And Warmbat™, with roots tracing back a third of a century, is a part of that heritage. That’s when one of Warmbat's co-founders designed the original Warmbat™ sheepskin boots in 1969 that has evolved into today’s Warmbat™ range, thus making Warmbat™ one of the oldest manufacturers on the market today.
Today, over three decades after Warmbat™ sheepskin boots were first created, our Warmbat™ footwear range has been enhanced with the use of modern sole materials and have evolved in response to contemporary fashions. Yet every pair of sheepskin boots and footwear we make resolutely preserves the quality standards for design, materials and workmanship that defined the original Warmbat™ and distinguish it from inferior imitations.
An Obsession with Comfort
We approach the design of every Warmbat™ sheepskin boots and footwear “feet first,” because while fashion is imperative in our footwear, comfort is critical. Any other apparel item can make concessions to style, but in shoes, if the fit isn’t right your feet will know it. We know it, too, and we live by it. A comfortable, cozy fit is the first priority of every pair of Warmbat™ sheepskin boots, slippers and other leading footwear styles in the range.
A Commitment to the Finest Materials
For sheepskin boots, there is no finer material than genuine Australian hides, a supple skin lined with the softest, plushest, wool fleece imaginable. Australia’s sheepskins, the most coveted in the world, command a premium price, but we gladly pay it because no lesser skin meets our standards for Warmbat™ comfort.
A Flair for Fashion
To the incomparable luxury of Australian sheepskin, today’s Warmbat™ footwear adds unique fashion features, with an expanding range of traditional and contemporary colors, boldly accented by a braid of authentic Australian aboriginal artwork and embroidered with the distinctive Warmbat™ Australia logo. Today, Warmbat™ from down under, long a favorite style in its native land, reaches global markets as people around the world discover the legendary comfort that has delighted Aussie feet for decades.
"Warmbat™ is the Original Australian" says Australian born Paul Barclay, Founder of Warmbat™ Australia. "Our brand is one of the oldest in the industry and is experiencing tremendous growth largely due to our commitment to quality, comfort and good old fashioned customer service"
Australian Sheepskin - "The Worlds Finest"
Sheepskin - The Choice for millennia
Sheepskin or shearling fleece continues to be a timeless natural choice. For century's Australian sheep farmers have know the virtues of 100% sheepskin. The Australian geography and environmental conditions are uniquely suited to the rearing of the World's best quality Merino sheep, used in the production of our boots. Merino sheepskin wool is lightweight, strong and supple with an incredibly soft feel. Sheepskin is fur, leather skin on one side with wool fur on the other. Sheepskin is not a layer of wool or synthetic material, glued to pig or cowhide as many lesser quality companies offer up as genuine sheepskin.
The Wonders Of Sheepskin
Ounce for ounce, sheepskin is stronger than steel. Your sheepskin boots will last for years, with minimum care. Impossible to copy synthetically, sheepskin and it's wool fibers offer an astounding list of natural qualities. Sheepskin wool does not shed, because it's attached to the skin. It's not woven and then brushed up, like wool pile fabric that's loose enough to be pulled out or worn off. Sheepskin wool is embedded into the leather.

We recommend spraying our boots with Warmbat Rain & Stain Repellent.
Warm in the Winter and Cool in Summer
Sheepskin wool is soft, resilient and is naturally thermostatic. The fibers "breathe" to act just like a natural thermostat for your body. These fibers are hollow, and can absorb up to 30% of their own weight in moisture without feeling wet. This quality allows for the wicking of moisture away from foot to the outside air keeping you perfectly dry, regardless of the weather. In winter sheepskin is a natural insulator trapping airspaces between the fibers capturing your body heat. The free flow of air between you and the sheepskin fibers is a comforting change to the clamminess of lamented pigskin, cowhide and synthetic fleece materials found in cheep boots often mistakenly marketed as "Sheepskin Boots". Additionally, sheepskin contains lanolin, which will moisturize your feet for additional comfort.
Sheepskin is washable
Warmbat Australia boots can be gently hand washed to maintain their fresh appearance by using a sheepskin shampoo. We have constructed our boots to have our removable fleece covered insole for easier care. These insoles can also be washed to keep their freshness.
Sheepskin Is Organic
Sheepskin is a pure organic product and is unlike any other fiber in the world. Sheepskin will return, in time, to it's constituent shape. This means that your Warmbat Australia boots will conform to the shape of your foot. This unique sheepskin property offers you a more customized fit for additional comfort.
What kind of sheepskin do we use?
Warmbat™ Australia uses 100% original Australian Merino sheepskins, the finest premium grade sheepskin pelts selected for their density, strength, and fine wool quality. The hides are tanned with the best technology available, in our factories around the world. Australian Sheepskin is a world commodity and is shipped worldwide.
Merino sheep breeds provide the best hides for boot products for many reasons. The leather side tends to be thicker and more durable, and the wool itself is very dense and retains its shape. It is soft and lightweight that has a rich suede texture on the outside and the smooth gentle fleece lining on the inside. It's the perfect material for the manufacturing of quality sheepskin Warmbat boots, which must endure a lot of wear and tear, yet keep its shape and look good for years to come.
